About Dr. Higginson
Dr. Higginson has been practicing orthodontics in Owensboro since 1978. He attended Western Kentucky University before entering dental school at the University of Louisville. Dr. Higginson received his certification and Master of Science in Orthodontics from Washington University in St. Louis. He is a board certified orthodontist by the American Board of Orthodontics and a member of the College of Diplomats of the ABO. He is a member of the American and Southern Associations of Orthodontists, and the American and Kentucky Dental Associations. He is a past president of the Green River Dental Society and the Western Kentucky Orthodontic Study Group. Dr. Higginson has served as a license examiner for the Orthodontic Specialty Board, as a trained insurance advisor for the American Association of Orthodontists, and as a delegate to the Kentucky Dental Association.
Dr. Higginson is a past president of the Daviess County Lions Club and the Owensboro Mercy Marlins. He has served on numerous local 
boards and is a graduate of Leadership Owensboro. Joe and his wife Barbara are currently serving on the Parents Advisory Council for Western Kentucky University.
Joe and Barbara have been married for 33 years. They met as freshmen at WKU. They have two daughters, Magen and Mary Katherine. Magen is a student at WKU with aspirations of becoming a dentist. Mary Katherine is a student at Daviess County High School. She swims for DCHS and the Marlins. Barbara is a homemaker and civic volunteer. Joe is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys camping, fishing, hunting, and scuba diving. The Higginsons worship together as a family at Owensboro Christian Church.
